The first stage of the Support at Home changes are now in effect, with all Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) providers feeling these effects. As of 1 July 2025, the existing CHSP service codes have been replaced, and DEX now rejects any activity reported using the old codes.

That means if you’re a CHSP provider, your systems and data must be updated to reflect the new codes to enable accurate reporting and continued service delivery.

What’s actually changing?

The Department of Health and Aged Care has introduced a new, expanded CHSP service list. This means all CHSP services must now be matched to updated codes before you submit July data, usually in August but can also be quarterly in arrears.

Some commonly used codes are no longer valid, including:

  • ATSI Health Worker (ID 29)
  • Hydrotherapy (ID 105)
  • Nursing (ID 58)
  • Ongoing Allied Health and Therapy Services (ID 34)
  • Other Allied Health and Therapy Services (ID 35)
  • Restorative Care Services (ID 39)
  • Other Goods and Equipment (ID 48)

All remaining services must be mapped to the new codes before reporting.

What do you need to do?

From the start of July, providers need to:

  1. Request approval for new program activities in the DEX portal.
  1. Stop using old CHSP codes when creating rosters and timesheets.
  1. Update service information across agreements and internal systems to align with the new service types.

If you haven’t changed these things already, you still can – it really becomes important at the claiming stage.
